Torun Transport – Trains

The city’s main railway station is Toruń Główny and there has been a station on the site since 1861, although the current building dates from 1874. It’s located at ul. Kujawska 1, 87-100 and there are usually taxis available outside of the railway station. There’s a ticket office and ticket machines have recently been installed, which also accept credit and debit cards. There are train timetables at https://www.pkp.pl/, and advance tickets can also be purchased on this site which can be shown on mobile devices, although railway staff will need to see ID.

There was a major renovation of the railway station between 2014 and 2015 and so there’s a modern feeling to it, with usage of the lines increasing sharply over the last few years. It’s a bit of a walk from here to the city centre, but there are frequent buses which cross the bridge over the Vistula River into Toruń.

There is also a railway station a short walk from the city centre, which is Toruń Miasto (photo above), located at plac 18 Stycznia 4, 87-100. There is some renovation work planned for this station, which is long overdue, but it doesn’t serve as many locations as Toruń Główny. There is also a major investment in the rebuilding of the line to Chełmża, a project which will be completed in 2022.
