OLD TOWN MARKET SQUARE

Address: Rynek Staromiejski, 87-100

The city’s town square was first laid out in the thirteenth century, after the Teutonic Knights had issued Toruń with a charter in 1233. It has been the heart of the city for many centuries, with protests, demonstrations, shows and performances having been held here, as well as it being the location of public executions. The Old Town Hall is also located in the square, which is now used as the city’s civic offices and as a museum. Monuments in the square include the Rafter and Frogs, as well as the Bronze Donkey.

The square is always freely accessible.
