BRONZE DONKEY

Located in the southeastern corner of the Old Town Market Square, this is a bronze sculpture added in 2006. There was once a similar donkey here made from wood, which was used to flog criminals on to cause public humiliation, as well as significant pain as sometimes lead weights were attached to the miscreant’s legs.

The donkey unfortunately lost its tail in February 2020, but plans have been drawn up with the sculptor to get the damage repaired. The sculpture is always freely accessible.
