BRIDGE GATE
Address: ul. Mostowa 1, 87-100
Work started on this gate in the 1430s, although it was built on the site of a former defensive structure which allowed access to the city. At the time, and until the nineteenth century, the gate stood in front of a wooden bridge which crossed the Vistula River, for a time the second longest bridge in Poland. The bridge is no longer present, although there’s an information board showing where it used to be, with the gate having been reconstructed in the 1850s.
It’s always possible to walk freely through the gate, although the interior can’t be visited.
