The original building on this site was constructed in the fourteenth century and it was used by the merchant guilds in Toruń. In 1466, this building was where the Second Peace of Toruń was signed between the Poles and the Teutonic Knights. The building’s usage evolved over the centuries, it was used as an inn and even a church in the seventeenth century.
It was decided to demolish the building at the beginning of the nineteenth century and this structure in turn was demolished in the late 1880s. Although the current building is relatively recent, it has been constructed to maintain a traditional style look. Today, the building is used as a cultural centre which organises events for visitors and promotes the artists of Toruń. There’s a grand room at the heart of the court with some beautiful interiors across the building.
The building doesn’t have regular hours, but there are occasionally guided tours and these can be booked on the web-site or at the property itself. There’s a charge of 10zl for adults and 5zl for concessions for these tickets.
